Why is everyone so against this movie? Elizabeth Gilbert was a successful writer, she earned the money to be able to do this, and yet she still felt like she was missing something spiritually and emotionally, so she used HER money which she EARNED to go off and search for what was missing. What's the problem with that? The people who are so angry about it just seem really petty and jealous. I can't afford this kind of lifestyle either, but? I don't hold it against Elizabeth Gilbert that she can!

My issue with this movie is that it's not relatable. I don't know too any women who can just drop everything and take off a year. While having no baggage as she leaves the men in her life. It's like she doesn't attach herself to anything.? And also, the book is a memoir of a women who was 32 years old at the time... would it hurt to cast someone who isn't over 10 years older than that part? Julia Roberts is pretty but she's a bit old for roles like this anymore.

The problem with today's women is that even when they're in their 40's & 50's they still expect people to perceive them as "young women". No, you're not "young" any more once you're over 40. Accept it so you wouldn't have a nervous break down. Julia Robert is a grandmother now, but she still plays the roles of "newly wed girls". This is ridiculous! Women nowadays live in this fantasyland of forever? young, happy tourists with lots of young friends and young men in love with them. Wake up grandma!

Totally agree.We picked up ,left family and tons of so called "friends " to move to another state for a job . BEST thing we ever did . .Know what happened? We found out just how many "friends" we had .To make a long story short, none . They wont even take the time to email us back.Close family rarely even return our calls . Hey, cant be? a guest at a birthday party anymore and enrich THEIR lives anymore in person-- we are worthless. IMAGINE if we had stayed for them all.We WERE miserable.
