i also tried to compute in my head several ideas and they just don't add up. first...peter never existed is not correct. peter existed on walternate's side. but because of bridge our walter could have crossed? and solved the problem, or their walter could have said our Peter. also there is the paradox that you have mentioned. if he opened the bridge the machines would disappear as well. but that is funny because that is okay in when we view time as linear but the show sometimes doesn't

This just makes no sense, sorry, I love the show, or at least loved it so far, but the fact that Peter doesn't exist makes no sense. If he didn't exist to begin with, Walter would've never crossed over into the other universe and thus never started the chain? reaction that destroyed both universes and created the antagony between them. I don't see any logical chain of causality that would make this outcome plausible and would require the projection of Peter (presumably by the observers?).
