The film features the first film adaptations of scenes from Moore's acclaimed series "V for Vendetta" and "Watchmen." Another key scene features a direct reference to the character of John Constantine from the comic book "Hellblazer."

A year before Watchmen came out, this miniseries called Squadron Supreme came out, and it was a lot more fantasy-based than Watchmen (it takes place? in an alternate dimension, for example) but otherwise it had a lot of similarities in tone, concept, plot points, and ideas. I can't imagine it not being a main inspiration.

for everyone bitching about if the movie adaptation was faithful to the source, the fact? still remains, and I can assure you this, nobody in our generation will make a more accurate and precise movie adaptation, it just wont happen, you're forgetting its a MOVIE ADAPTATION, you cant criticize it for not doing what the novel did, Moore said himself he made watchmen to 'show off' what graphic novels can portray which other media cant, so you have to acknowledge this BEFORE you watch the movie.

How should they not be compared when both gentleman redefined comics literally at the same time. they added sophistication and depth to the product, as well as introduced the darker tone? to characters who were not working in the "Superman" light hearted tone (ie. Daredevil). They both tell stories different, but both use heavy dialogue catered to those who prefer realism and exageration, rather than "Comic style. Do your homework, I think you maybe a casul fan who is in over his head

snyder wanted moores appreciation coz he probly felt he needed the creators blessing.. the studio only wanted credence &support of the fans that his blessing would bring the project? (more bucks basically) regardless the man is a genius &despite his appearance is a more mentally &morally stable human being than the ever disintegrating batman.. i mean miller (genuine error that on retrospect seemed quite appropriately ironic)
